Investments will help Canada meet its 2030 climate objectives and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Canada\u2019s entrepreneurs are developing and deploying new technologies with the potential to transform the environmental and economic prosperity of Canada. Working in partnership with the Government of Canada and visionary companies, Sustainable Development Technology (SDTC) Canada is supporting these entrepreneurs to unlock their potential to become world leaders and global champions in the development of sustainable solutions.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, SDTC announced an investment of $52.3 million in 16 ground-breaking Canadian companies. The recipients are boosting innovation across all regions of Canada and across several sectors of our economy. SDTC offers unique support for Canadian entrepreneurs and creates economic and environmental benefits, from managing crops digitally to yield more food, to reducing the number of empty trucks on our roads through route optimization, to creating a solar coating that will charge a car while its driving.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These investments will fund Canadian entrepreneurs at all stages of innovation. <\/span>Semios<\/span><\/a>, a Vancouver, British Columbia, based company that is using data and machine learning to improve tree fruit and nut crops to use less water and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, is receiving $17 million in scale-up funding to expand its operations. <\/span>B\u00e9ton Brunet\u00a0<\/span><\/a> of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield,\u00a0 Quebec, <\/span>NoviFlow<\/span><\/a> of Montreal, Quebec, and <\/span>Vicinity Motor<\/span><\/a> of Aldergrove, British Columbia, are also receiving scale-up funding to expand their operations and grow their customer base.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Toronto, Ontario, based <\/span>FleetOps<\/span><\/a>, which uses artificial intelligence to create more efficient freight routes, is receiving $1.3 million in start-up funding. <\/span>Wyvern<\/span><\/a> of Edmonton, Alberta, <\/span>Qube Tech<\/span><\/a> of Calgary, Alberta, <\/span>Chinova Bioworks<\/span><\/a> of Fredericton,\u00a0 New Brunswick, <\/span>Ferme d\u2019Hiver Tech<\/span><\/a> of Brossard, Quebec, <\/span>Enedym<\/span><\/a> of Hamilton,\u00a0 Ontario, and <\/span>Metaspectra<\/span><\/a>l and <\/span>Intelligent City<\/span><\/a> of Vancouver are each receiving start-up funding to help bring their innovations to market.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rayleigh Solar Tech<\/span><\/a> of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, is a graduate of SDTC\u2019s Seed Fund and is receiving $1.2 million in SDTC start-up funding for the development of its low-cost, efficient and versatile solar cells. <\/span>Kraken Sense<\/span><\/a> of Mississauga,\u00a0 Ontario, <\/span>Pulse Industrial<\/span><\/a> of Waterloo, Ontario, and <\/span>Reel Data<\/span><\/a> of Halifax, are also Seed Fund graduates, returning for start-up funding as they successfully grow and scale their companies.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

SDTC is supporting companies attempting to do extraordinary things. These entrepreneurs will diversify SDTC\u2019s portfolio of companies and will help drive our economy into the post-pandemic future while boosting Canada\u2019s ability to get more sustainable solutions to market.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
